A children’s hospital in California just lost federal funding that could have saved lives. Valley Children’s Hospital was set to receive $29 million to build a battery system — a critical backup during wildfire-related blackouts. Then, last week, the Trump administration canceled the grant. It wasn’t the only one. Over 300 clean energy projects were cut — most in Democratic states — while coal companies received new funding days later. Hospitals depend on reliable power to keep patients safe. When energy becomes political, healthcare becomes collateral damage. This isn’t about left or right. It’s about what’s right. Healthcare should never be a casualty of politics.
