This poor little baby and her family were victims of the pepper spray and terror that immigration enforcement agents unleashed on our community yesterday as they were leaving a Sam’s Club parking lot. They will always try to spin and lie about what happened, just as Bovino did when he lied to a judge in federal court last week, and then they will post about a negative reaction from the community. But make no mistake, they are the ones creating chaos and terrorizing our communities on purpose to provoke us and draw out those reactions. They are manufacturing chaos and violence to justify military escalation. That is their plan, and it is disgusting. As Judge Ellis said this week, when issuing the injunction banning these exact tactics, “The use of force shocks the conscience.” We must keep exposing their cruelty, documenting these human rights abuses, and, as hard as it is, refuse to take the bait. Peace is the only way, for our children’s sake and for the sake of our communities. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “The choice is not between violence and nonviolence, but between nonviolence and nonexistence.” Thank you to Matt DeMateo for helping this family get the medical care and legal support they need.
